How to Find Great Los Angeles Apartments for Rent
Finding the perfect Los Angeles apartments for rent isn't an easy task, even for the experts. That's why you need the right information on your side before beginning your search for the perfect LA apartment.
A good place to begin your search for LA apartments for rent is your local newspaper's classifieds. That's where most landlords list their apartments for rent. However, some computer inclined landlords do list their properties on the Internet as well. So check both places to make sure you find all the good properties out there. Another option is to hire a realtor. It's their job to find you an apartment. So they're going to work in your benefit.
Sometimes, you can find apartments simply by driving by and seeing a sign in the yard in front of a property. Or, try asking friends and family for recommendations, in case they know of a good place to rent.
The first thing you need to figure out is how much you can afford to spend on rent each month. Your rent should equal around one-third of your income. If the apartments you look at are more expensive than that, then you have a few options. You can find lower-priced apartments in other neighborhoods, or you can find a roommate.
A roommate can be a great way to afford the LA apartment of your dreams or even how to make money from your apartment. And sometimes, roommates can become friends. However, it's not always that way. For every roommate success story, there's a disaster story. The way to prevent this is to thoroughly screen all potential roommates before even considering them. Use your intuition and common sense to discover whether or not this person is truly a good choice.
Before you and your roommate move into the apartment, rules need to be established. Not only do the two of you share the rent, you share other expenses as well like utilities. And don't forget about food. You need to determine how grocery shopping will be done. Will you share the food, or will you each have separate food? Little things like that can make or break a relationship between roommates. One important thing to establish is the rules when it comes to having friends over. The last thing you want is to live with someone who has wild parties at 3 am when you're trying to sleep.
